The four-layer framework applied to one real month of NIFTY futures, trade by trade. The totals are perfect hindsight and only include trades that worked — a live trader keeps a part of it. The honest “what’s realistic” breakdown is inside.
The framework, in four layers
Every entry below came from layer 1 or 2 — never open space. Order flow was the yes/no on all 23 trades.
One step per session, running total. Eleven shorts and seven longs, all winners on hindsight. Oct 28 opened the November contract with a 308-point range — Short Buildup squeeze to the wHigh at 22,875.5, immediate delta reversal, systematic distribution through S1 and the September Low, recovery to a POC settlement — +233 pts at 5.8R, the highest R:R of the month.
Read this first. These trades are marked after each day closes, when the high, low and close are already known. It is the perfect-hindsight version, and it only holds trades that triggered cleanly and worked. Live, you also take the ones that looked identical beforehand and failed. Every session has a 15-minute footprint behind it. Treat the totals as "what the framework pointed at," not money anyone banked.
| Layer | Tells you | Does not tell you | Terms used below |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 · CPR (pre-open) | the day's character — narrow → trend, wide → chop; weak-close (bearish); virgin | a trigger | daily / weekly CPR · TC/PP/BC |
| 2 · Pivots (pre-open) | where a decision happens | whether to act | Standard R/S · Camarilla H3–5 / L3–5 · prev-day/week high-low |
| 3 · Order flow (live) | whether the move is real | context | absorption · exhaustion · delta divergence · short covering · Long/Short Unwinding, Build Up |
| 4 · Market Profile | today's & history's fair value | live conviction | shapes D/P/b · value-area edge · POC · poor high / poor low |
October's first week already produced the sharpest tell of the month on its strongest day — a Long Unwinding read right near Oct 6's fresh high, two sessions before the breakdown confirmed it.
| Word | Plain meaning |
|---|---|
| Lot | 1 NIFTY futures lot = 65 units. 1 point of NIFTY = ₹65 per lot. |
| 2 lots / position size | Every trade uses 2 lots (130 units) → 1 point = ₹130. |
| 1st target | where the first lot is booked. (hit) = price reached it; (not reached) = it stopped short, first lot closed at the exit price instead. |
| First lot / second lot | closed separately — first at the 1st target, second on a break-even stop, trailing 15-min lower highs/higher lows, booked into the close. Same-day unless a row says otherwise. |
| Exit — avg of both lots | the two lots close at different prices; this column is the average, and Points and ₹ are worked from it. 1-lot trades show one price. |
| Points | NIFTY points per lot — never changes with lot size, only the rupees do. |
The framework earns in lumps — small base hits and a few big trend days. One lot forces a bad choice every trade: bank a small profit and miss the trend day, or hold for the trend day and give the small profit back on every day that just tags your target and turns. Two lots does both — close the first lot at the first target (locks a win, pays the trade's costs), let the second lot run on a stop moved to your entry (from there it cannot lose). Most days the runner stops at break-even and you keep the first lot's profit; a few days it catches the whole move. It also keeps the account climbing in small steps instead of lurching. It assumes a ₹5–7 lakh account, ≤ 2–4% risked per trade.
Each row: the day, its type, long or short, the framework read, entry / stop / target, where it ended, the result. Appended daily.

October runs to 18 straight winning sessions on hindsight — eleven shorts, seven longs — but the real story remains the week-to-week arc: a quiet Long Unwinding warning inside Oct 6's strongest day, confirmed Oct 7, broken down Oct 8, a demand zone holding since March reversing it on Oct 9, then the Oct 6 overhead zone doing the exact same job in reverse on Oct 12, and Oct 13 retesting Monday's low in a single bar before 70% buy volume and a session of Short Covering took the market 450 points higher — then Oct 14 handing 42% of it straight back — a rejection at the CPR top in the first bar and a two-bar break at 12:45, the smallest win of the run (+114 pts, 1.6R) because the first target sat at the CPR bottom and the runner gave a little back into the close. Oct 15 then reversed it again — an open on the low and Short Covering from the first bar to the last, +182 pts, with the runner trailed out near R3 when four sell bars arrived after 2 pm. Oct 16 then gapped up, flushed 150 points and reversed straight through the open on a +1.3K bar — a +120 pt trade at 1.8R, where neither lot reached its first target and both were trailed out of the 80-point box that followed. Oct 19 then gapped up above a narrow CPR and sold in the first bar — the short waited for the lower high at 10:30, then rode the slide through 23,031, 22,977 and 22,908 in order for +201 pts at 3.7R. Oct 21 then gapped up into R1 after the holiday, rejected it inside 45 minutes and walked down the whole ladder Monday's recap had named — +265 pts at 3.8R, the second-best day of the month. Oct 22 then opened three points below Wednesday's Poor Low, squeezed above the TC on Long Unwinding to print a Poor High at 22,748 and sold all the way through the September low — +145 pts at 1.9R, the month's thinnest edge, where the runner was caught by the Short Covering recovery rather than a planned exit. Oct 23 then gapped up above Thursday's Poor High and pHigh into R1 — the opening push to 22,853 read Short Buildup, not conviction, and the rollover below pHigh was the short entry; the market then walked through every level in the pivot map to the weekly low at 22,435 for +240 pts at 4.0R, the third-best day of the month, with the runner stopped on Short Covering in the final hour. Oct 26 then opened below the narrow CPR in a bearish open location, immediately tested the wLow at 22,440 — the same level Oct 23 had put in as its session extreme — and Short Covering fired on the second test; the long from 22,465 climbed through TC, PP and BC without a single pullback, posted an 11.56K absorption bar midday, and was trailed out near 22,770 when the session entered its final-hour box below the Poor High at 22,785 — +242 pts at 4.0R, the market's answer to Monday before handing Tuesday's expiry a simple question. Oct 27 then opened flat, squeezed the Poor High by 45 points to 22,841.7, found no buyers behind it, and spent six hours drifting down to 22,748 — the month's smallest win at +55 pts and 1.2R, which is exactly what expiry days deserve: a tight fade of the morning squeeze, settled near max pain, the October contract closed. Oct 28 then opened the November contract with a 308-point range — a gap-down below the CPR's lower edge into Short Buildup in the first bar, a 185-point squeeze to the wHigh at 22,875.5 (the R1/H4 supply cluster), an immediate delta reversal with the wHigh printed as a single-bar extreme, a systematic distribution through TC, PP, BC, S1 and the September Low to 22,567, and a recovery to a POC settlement at 22,775 — the highest R:R of the month at 5.8× on +233 pts, where the short from the wHigh rejection was the cleanest two-step read of October: Wide CPR called for range expansion not trend, Short Buildup gave the squeeze its fuel, and R1/H4 turned it back. Swing-trade candidates and the full ROI/realistic-haircut model are assembled at month-end.
One reasoned ticket per trade: the Pivot read, the Order-flow read, the Market-profile read, the positioning, and the trade reasoned line-by-line — why this entry, why the stop there, why that target. Direction-neutral wording throughout ("close," not "sell").
Pivot read. Open 22,630.0 sat well below the entire daily CPR (BC 22,813.0–TC 22,742.5) — a bearish open-location read on a normal-width (~71-pt) CPR, meaning confirmation was needed rather than an automatic trend call.
Order-flow read. The session opened with Short Build Up and Unwinding stacked together — a mixed signal. Price pushed to a Poor High near 22,702, still inside the CPR's own lower edge, and failed to reclaim TC (22,742.5). From there cumulative delta rolled over hard.
Market-profile read. A wide, two-sided range (381 points, the month's widest session so far) with incomplete structure on both ends — a Poor High at the top, a sharp low with a real recovery off it.
Positioning. Same-day FII/retail data wasn't available; the order flow's own mixed open-day signal was the best read in real time, and it correctly warned the session wouldn't resolve cleanly in one direction.
The trade, reasoned. Close short at 22,670 once the Poor High rejection confirmed the bearish open-location read — entry sits below the rejection high, not chasing it. Stop at 22,715, just above the session high, 45 points of risk — tight because the CPR's TC (22,742.5) was the real invalidation level, and 22,715 gives a buffer without paying for the whole distance to TC. First lot closes at daily S2 (22,533.8, hit — the low reached 22,321, well beyond it) for +136 points. Second lot trails on 15-minute lower highs; given how sharp the afternoon recovery was, the trail needed to be walked down aggressively, closing around 22,452 for +250 points, average +193 points across both lots. The target was the daily S2 pivot, not a guess — the level the pre-open map had already flagged.
Pivot read. Open 22,630.0 sat clearly above an ultra-narrow ~12-pt daily CPR (BC 22,511.7–TC 22,524.1) — textbook bullish open-location, and a CPR this tight is normally the framework's cleanest trend-day signal.
Order-flow read. A Short Covering read opened the session, consistent with the gap. Price ran to 22,729 — almost exactly tagging daily R1 (22,714.8) — then gave back nearly the whole move through the rest of the session.
Market-profile read. A fresh high made early, then a wide fade back toward the CPR zone — never built the one-sided structure the narrow-CPR signal would normally predict.
Positioning. Short Covering at the open reads as shorts from the prior week's trend being squeezed by the gap, not fresh long conviction building — the fade through the day confirms that read in hindsight.
The trade, reasoned. Close long at 22,650 on confirmation above the CPR — not at the open print, waiting for the first real push to hold. Stop at 22,600, back inside the CPR, 50 points of risk. First lot closes at daily R1 (22,714.8, hit against a high of 22,729) for +65 points. Second lot's stop needed to move to breakeven quickly once the fade began — the session gave back almost the entire move by the close — closing at 22,650 for 0 points, average +32 points across both lots. The modest size of this trade versus Oct 1 and Oct 6 is itself the lesson: a narrow CPR is a signal, not a guarantee, and the 2-lot structure is what turned a signal that failed to follow through into a small win instead of a round-trip loss.
Pivot read. Open 22,660.0 sat above an almost perfectly flat ~1-pt daily CPR (BC 22,619.6–TC 22,620.4) — about as clean a bullish trend-day signal as the framework produces.
Order-flow read. Cumulative delta climbed steadily from the open, no chop. Price cleared daily R1 (22,729.8) early and ran to a fresh 22,830 high. A Long Unwinding read printed right near that high — an unusual signal on a day this strong, flagging that the move was running on momentum rather than fresh buying able to sustain a continuation.
Market-profile read. Clean trend-day structure, closing near the session's best levels — the profile looked textbook-perfect even as the order flow was already hinting otherwise.
Positioning. The Long Unwinding read near the high is the session's real information — longs who'd ridden the move booking out right as the narrow-CPR breakout was drawing fresh buyers in, a classic late-stage-of-a-move signature.
The trade, reasoned. Close long at 22,675 on the immediate clearance above the CPR — the trend-day signal fired within the first hour, no real hesitation to wait out. Stop at 22,635, back inside the tiny CPR, 40 points of risk. First lot closes at daily R1 (22,729.8, hit) for +55 points. Second lot trails on 15-minute higher lows, riding the move to a strong close near the day's high, closing around 22,755 for +115 points, average +85 points across both lots. The trade itself worked cleanly — the Long Unwinding read doesn't invalidate it in the moment, it's information that pays off on the next session's open-location read, which is exactly what Wednesday confirmed.
Pivot read. Open 22,690.0 sat below the daily CPR (BC 22,734.0–TC 22,774.9) — a bearish open-location read, consistent with Tuesday's Long Unwinding warning carrying into the next session.
Order-flow read. Long Unwinding opened the session again, and this time it drove the whole day. Price pushed to a Poor High of 22,782.1 — landing almost exactly on daily TC (22,774.9), rejecting right at the level the CPR itself flagged — well short of Tuesday's 22,830 high. Cumulative delta rolled over from there.
Market-profile read. A Poor High rejection right at the CPR's own top edge, followed by a steady slide into a close testing back toward the pre-October low shelf (22,592.5 / 22,579.0).
Positioning. The Long Unwinding read repeating from a quiet signal inside Tuesday's strong day to an active one driving Wednesday's weak one is the clearest two-day escalation of the week — the same signal, getting louder.
The trade, reasoned. Close short at 22,750 once the Poor High rejection at TC confirmed the bearish lean — entry sits below the rejection high, inside the CPR's own range, not chasing the print. Stop at 22,790, just above the rejection high, 40 points of risk. First lot closes at daily S1 (22,678.9, hit) for +71 points. Second lot trails down through the steady afternoon slide, closing near the session low around 22,640 for +110 points, average +91 points across both lots. The target (daily S1) and the entry level (daily TC, matching the actual Poor High almost to the point) were both known before the open — the order flow supplied the when, the pre-open map supplied the where.
Pivot read. Open 22,580.0 sat below the whole daily CPR (BC 22,687.3–TC 22,651.0) — and the session's entire range (high 22,614.3) never even reclaimed TC, the cleanest bearish open-location confirmation of the week.
Order-flow read. Cumulative delta turned negative within the first half hour and never recovered — no afternoon bounce attempt at all. OI-behaviour cycled Short Build Up and Long Unwinding back to back through the session, more than once: fresh shorts opening while the longs still left standing from Tuesday's high kept getting forced out.
Market-profile read. A fresh Poor Low at 22,278.3, breaking clean through the Poor Low that had held since the month began — the most decisive structural break of the week.
Positioning. FIIs holding roughly 91% of their index futures positions short against retail near 84% long is the backdrop this session resolved against — the repeated Long Unwinding cycling lines up with those retail longs being the ones forced out, not just fresh institutional shorts pressing into a flat book.
The trade, reasoned. Close short at 22,600 on the immediate conviction from the open — no reclaim attempt of the CPR ever showed up to wait for. Stop at 22,650, just above TC, 50 points of risk. First lot closes at daily S2 (22,479.6, hit — the low reached 22,268.9, well beyond it) for +120 points. Second lot trails hard given the total absence of a bounce, closing near the session low around 22,290 for +310 points, average +215 points across both lots, the month's best trade so far. The week's real lesson sits one session earlier than this trade, though — Tuesday's quiet Long Unwinding signal, not Thursday's loud breakdown, is what actually called this move first.
Pivot read. Open 22,356.0 landed inside the daily CPR (TC 22,330.5–BC 22,441.6) — a neutral pivot read, unlike every other session this week. The real pre-market reference wasn't a pivot level at all: a daily-chart demand zone that's held since March, flagged before the open.
Order-flow read. A Short Covering read opened the session, and cumulative delta confirmed it almost immediately — no need for the session to prove itself first. A brief midday pause (roughly 11:00–12:30) cooled the climb without reversing it; the move resumed into the afternoon.
Market-profile read. The first session since September 30 to break the stair-step of lower Poor Highs/Poor Lows — price traded back up through several of the week's own prior resistance levels (22,513.9, 22,566, 22,633.1), which flipped to support.
Positioning. The session is the first real test of the week's positioning split (FIIs near 91% short, retail near 84% long) resolving upward — the Short Covering read directly supports a short-covering origin for the rally, not fresh long conviction, consistent with how immediate and one-sided the move was.
The trade, reasoned. Close long at 22,400 once the Short Covering confirmation showed up early in the session — not at the open print, which gave no pivot signal on its own. Stop at 22,330, just below the daily TC and the session's own early low, 70 points of risk — the widest stop of the month, appropriate given the CPR itself was wide (~111 points) and the open gave no tight pivot to lean on. First lot closes at daily R1 (22,503.2, hit against a high of 22,665) for +103 points. Second lot trails on 15-minute higher lows through the midday pause, closing around 22,562 for +225 points, average +164 points across both lots. The trade's real edge wasn't a pivot or an order-flow signal in isolation — it was both agreeing with a daily-chart structural level that had nothing to do with the day's own CPR.
Pivot read. Open 22,657.0 sat above the entire daily CPR (TC 22,586.0) — a bullish open-location read, and price pushed further on it early, right into the Oct 6 Poor High zone the pre-market read had flagged as the week's real resistance.
Order-flow read. A Long Unwinding read fired right at the open — not something the session built toward, it was there in the first bars. Cumulative delta began sliding immediately and never threatened a recovery, the clean mirror of Friday's one-directional rally, this time down.
Market-profile read. A fresh Poor Low undoes Friday's break in the stair-step pattern, pointing the structure back toward Thursday Oct 8's old Poor Low shelf — the level this week keeps circling back to.
Positioning. The session is the clearest test yet of the week's positioning split (FIIs near 91% short, retail near 84% long) resolving downward again — Long Unwinding firing immediately after Friday's Short Covering rally is consistent with the retail longs who bought Friday's bounce giving it straight back.
The trade, reasoned. Close short at 22,690 once the Long Unwinding read confirmed the early push was failing to hold — not chasing the session high at 22,720, waiting for the order-flow tell first. Stop at 22,750, above the session's own early high, 60 points of risk. First lot closes at daily S1 (22,429.0, hit — the low reached 22,370.7, well beyond it) for +261 points. Second lot trails hard given the total absence of a bounce, closing near the session low around 22,400 for +290 points, average +276 points across both lots, the month's best trade so far. The entry trigger here is the same pattern as Oct 6/Oct 9 — an order-flow signal (Long Unwinding) arriving before the price action confirmed it, and the trade following the flow rather than the headline open-location read.
Pivot read. Open 22,400.1 sat below the entire daily CPR (BC 22,545.3 / TC 22,448.4, a normal ~97-point band with a bearish lean) — a bearish open-location read on paper, and the session undercut Monday's low (22,370.7) by under three points in the first bar. That is exactly the retest the pre-market read was asking about; the point of the day is that it did not hold.
Order-flow read. The 9:15 bar printed 7.98K volume with 69.95% on the buy side and a delta of +3.18K, and OI Sense read Short Covering from the open and held it to the close. Cumulative delta rose to 5.58K by 10:00, drifted back to 4.57K by 11:15, then climbed from 4.73K at 12:15 to 5.92K by 13:45 while price stayed pinned inside the same band — buyers absorbing every sell order. The breakout came on 4.80K (14:30, a Multiple Imbalances box, +1.56K delta) and 8.19K (14:45), with cumulative delta finishing at 9.13K after a 9.51K high.
Market-profile read. A Buying Tail from the A period at the low, a balanced body around a 22,617.5 POC, then a J to M run of single prints above the 22,758.6 value area high. Open-Test-Drive into a Normal Variation day, closing above value.
Positioning. The pre-market split (FIIs still net short by about 296K index futures contracts, DIIs net long near 54%) is the setup a squeeze runs on. By the 3:15 pm check PCR had gone from 0.83 to 1.42, max pain from 22,400 to 22,650, and futures OI was down 0.7% — higher price on falling open interest, the Short Covering signature the overlay had shown all day.
The trade, reasoned. Close long at 22,500 once the first bar's Short Covering confirmed and price was back above both the daily CPR and the Camarilla H3 (22,496) — not buying the open print under the CPR, which carried a bearish read. Stop at 22,430, just under the daily TC, 70 points of risk: if the CPR reclaim failed, the idea was wrong. First lot closes at daily R1 (22,623, hit against a high of 22,879) for +123 points. Second lot goes to a break-even stop, then trails 15-minute higher lows, which the midday balance never broke, and is booked into the close around 22,830 for +330 points, average +227 points across both lots. The edge was the same as Oct 6, 9 and 12: the order-flow tell (Short Covering, then absorption) arriving well before the price action looked obvious.
Pivot read. Open 22,784.1 sat right at the top of the daily CPR (TC 22,781, BC 22,624, a normal ~158-point band) — not a bullish open-location read, because the first bar immediately turned it into a rejection. Daily S1 (22,526) sat 54 points under where the session eventually bottomed, so it was never the realistic first target; the CPR bottom (22,624) was.
Order-flow read. The 9:15 bar printed 10.04K volume (the day's heaviest) with 60.78% on the sell side and a delta of -2.16K, putting in the 22,816.6 high and reversing back through the open — an Open-Rejection-Reverse. Cumulative delta was -4.28K by 10:15 and stayed in a -3.9K to -4.6K band through noon while price rotated around a flat VWAP near 22,758. The break came at 12:45 (-1.47K on 79.63% sell) and 13:00 (-2.18K on 83.62% sell, 7.57K volume), taking cumulative delta from -5.06K to -8.71K and price from about 22,740 to the 22,580 low. OI Sense alternated between Short Build Up and Long Unwinding in the morning and held Short Build Up for the second half of the day.
Market-profile read. A double distribution: a morning cluster under a Poor High at 22,816.6 (TPO POC 22,746.6, value area high 22,803.7), a thin run of H-period single prints for the break, and a lower afternoon distribution near 22,640 to 22,700, ending on a Poor Low at 22,580 — a three-way stack with the September low and the Camarilla L4 at 22,579.
Positioning. FIIs came in net short about 289K index futures contracts (down from 296K as Tuesday's squeeze covered some), DIIs net long near 55%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR had gone from 1.38 to 0.87, futures OI was up 1.1% on a falling price, and call writing led the window (607L against 68L of puts) — the signature of fresh shorts, not a squeeze unwinding.
The trade, reasoned. Close short at 22,750 once the first bar's rejection confirmed and price was back below the CPR top — not chasing the 22,816.6 high, waiting for the sell volume to show up. Stop at 22,820, above the session's own early high, 70 points of risk, matching the widest stop of the month. First lot closes at the daily CPR bottom (22,624, hit against a low of 22,580) for +126 points; the morning rotation never reached it, so the original stop stayed in place through the whole 22,700 to 22,780 balance. Second lot moves to break-even and trails 15-minute lower highs; the afternoon bounce never made a higher high than 22,690, so it is booked near the close at 22,648 for +102 points, average +114 points across both lots. The smallest win of the month so far — the break happened late, the first target was a long way from entry, and the runner gave back about 70 points of the low into the close.
Pivot read. Open 22,671.0 sat inside the narrow daily CPR (BC 22,698 / TC 22,666, about 33 points), right at the TC — a neutral open-location read that the first bar immediately resolved upward. The open turned out to be the low of the day. Daily R1 (22,784) was the realistic first target.
Order-flow read. The 9:15 bar printed 7.48K volume with 69.65% on the buy side and a delta of +1.44K; the next two bars added +985 and +1.8K, taking cumulative delta to +4.23K with price already above Wednesday's 22,816.6 high. The 10:00 bar was heavy churn (7.21K volume, +92 on 50.64% buy) that resolved up at 10:45 (+1.25K). Delta stepped up again at 11:15, 11:30, 12:15 (74.69% buy) and 12:30, peaking at +10.14K at 14:00, after the 23,095.0 price high, so there was no divergence at the top. OI Sense read Short Covering from the open to the close. Four straight sell bars after 14:00 (-501, -500, -447, -563) took cumulative delta to +8.13K at 15:00 and price down to a few points above VWAP.
Market-profile read. A P-shape: a long column of single prints from the 22,671 open to roughly 22,900, a value area of 22,893 to 23,087, a POC at 22,977.9 and a Poor High at 23,095.0. An Open Drive into a trend day.
Positioning. FIIs came in net short about 297K index futures contracts, DIIs net long near 44%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR had gone from 0.94 to 1.64, max pain from 22,650 to 22,900, and futures OI was down 3.2% on a rising price, the Short Covering signature the overlay held all day.
The trade, reasoned. Close long at 22,720 once the first bar's buy volume confirmed and price was above both the CPR and the Camarilla H3 (22,715) — not chasing the open print itself, which was inside the CPR. Stop at 22,650, just under the open, the CPR top and the day's own low, 70 points of risk, matching the widest stop of the month. First lot closes at daily R1 (22,784, hit within the first 45 minutes) for +64 points. Second lot goes to break-even and trails 15-minute higher lows through the 10:00 churn and the whole morning and afternoon climb, and is trailed out near R3 (about 23,020) when the first lower low arrived after the fade began, for +300 points, average +182 points across both lots. The first lot is small because R1 sat so close to entry; the runner is what made the day.
Pivot read. Open 23,058.0 gapped up 73 points and sat well above the narrow daily CPR (TC 22,956.5, BC 22,883, about 73 points) — a bullish open-location read on paper, but the order flow immediately argued against buying the gap. Daily R1 (23,168) was the first target on the map; the high of the day stopped 14 points short of it.
Order-flow read. The 9:15 bar printed 4.59K volume with 59.62% on the sell side and a delta of -882, and OI Sense read Long Unwinding — the gap-up longs being handed back. The 9:30 bar printed the 22,908.0 low and closed positive (+301 on 53.83% buy), buyers absorbing 15 points above the 22,893 support stack. The 10:00 bar delivered +1.3K on 68.31% buy volume and the 10:15 bar +628 on the way to the 23,154.6 high; cumulative delta swung from -882 to +1.4K in four bars. OI Sense held Short Covering for the rest of the session. After 10:30 the market sat in an 80-point box (about 23,075 to 23,155) on 500 to 700 per bar, cumulative delta only creeping to +1.99K, with a -619 sell bar at 14:45 (66.74% sell) the only real push down.
Market-profile read. An Open-Rejection-Reverse and a P-shape: a thin A and B leg from the flush and the reversal, a developed body with a value area of 23,057.7 to 23,148.3, a POC at 23,110.5 almost exactly at the close and a Poor High at 23,154.6 that took out Thursday's.
Positioning. FIIs came in net short about 280K index futures contracts after covering about 17K on Thursday, DIIs net long near 56%. By the 3:15 pm check futures OI was down just 0.1% and PCR had gone from 1.42 to 1.34, with writes at 23,100 PE (+119L) and 23,150 CE (+79L) — positions steady, which is what an 80-point box looks like in the options.
The trade, reasoned. Close long at 22,960 once the 22,908 low had been absorbed and price was back above the CPR top (22,956) — not buying the gap-up open, which Long Unwinding said to fade, and not chasing the +1.3K bar. Stop at 22,895, just under the 22,908 flush low and the top of the 22,877 to 22,893 support stack, 65 points of risk. First target R1 (23,168) was not reached, so there was no first-lot booking and no break-even move; both lots were trailed on 15-minute higher lows through the box and closed out near 23,080 when the 14:45 sell bar broke the last higher low, for +120 points on each lot, average +120 across both. The thinnest edge of the month's recent wins — an R1 that was never reached, a box that gave nothing after 10:15 — but the entry at the absorbed low was the whole trade.
Pivot read. Open 23,160.8 gapped up 42 points and sat well above the narrow daily CPR (TC 23,085.8, BC 23,031.3, about 54 points) — a bullish open-location read on paper, and a narrow CPR is the setup for a directional day, so the question was only which direction. The open tagged 23,182.0, just above Camarilla H3 (23,180.8) and 27 points above Friday's high.
Order-flow read. The 9:15 bar printed 7.25K volume (the day's heaviest) with 63.61% on the sell side and a delta of -1.97K; OI Sense read Long Unwinding and held it for almost the whole session. The 9:30 bar bounced (+863) and a second push at 10:30 reached about 23,150, just under Friday's 23,154.6 high, a lower high than the open. From 10:45 price sat under the CPR top while a falling VWAP and cumulative delta (never closer than -654 to flat) leaned on it. Then three heavy sell bars: -940 at 11:30 (2.22K volume, 71.21% sell), -786 at 12:00 (2.67K, 64.74%) and -1.12K at 13:15 (2.6K, 71.49%), taking cumulative delta from -1.2K to -5.52K. The low (22,866.2) was absorbed two points above Camarilla L5 (22,864), with five net-positive bars to the close.
Market-profile read. An Open-Test-Drive down: a top-heavy cluster at 23,030 to 23,180, a thin slide through 22,950 to 23,000, a small base at 22,870 to 22,920, a POC at 23,032.5, a close below the value area and a Poor Low at 22,866.
Positioning. FIIs came in net short about 273K index futures contracts (280K before, about 7K covered Friday), DIIs net long near 57%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR had gone from 1.21 to 0.78, futures OI was down 0.7% on a falling price and calls added 1,030L against 89L fewer puts, with the biggest writes at 22,900 CE and 22,950 CE — longs bailing and call writers pressing, no put support.
The trade, reasoned. Close short at 23,130 once the 10:30 bounce failed under Friday's high — not selling the open itself, not chasing the first bar's 210-point drop, but waiting for the lower high to confirm the rejection. Stop at 23,185, just above the open's 23,182 high, 55 points of risk, and the tightest stop in a while. First lot closes at daily S1 (22,962, hit against a low of 22,866.2) for +168 points. Second lot moves to break-even and trails 15-minute lower highs through the whole slide, and is booked into the close around 22,896 for +234 points, average +201 points across both lots. The edge was in the first bar's tell (Long Unwinding with a -1.97K delta) being confirmed by the 10:30 lower high, not in a pivot level; the CPR said which kind of day it would be, the flow said which way.
Pivot read. Open 22,993.0 gapped up 98 points after the Dussehra break and sat inside the narrow, bearish-leaning daily CPR (TC 22,937.4, BC 23,024.1, about 87 points), right on the pivot and Camarilla H3 (both near 22,981) — a neutral open-location read. The opening drive ran to R1 (23,095) and tagged 23,135.0 at 9:30, 40 points above it. S1 (22,780) was the realistic first target.
Order-flow read. The 9:15 bar printed 11.09K volume (the day's heaviest) with 62.35% on the buy side and a delta of +2.74K, and OI Sense read Short Covering through the push; cumulative delta peaked at +3.26K at 9:30. The 9:45 bar turned negative (-361) and the 10:00 bar delivered -995 on 4.7K volume (60.59% sell), carrying price back through the open. A balance under VWAP followed, then the 11:15 bar (-1.14K, 70.81% sell) and the 11:30 bar (-1.41K on 4.29K volume, 66.42% sell) took cumulative delta from +1.98K to -569, broke Monday's 22,866.2 low and flipped OI Sense to Long Unwinding. Camarilla L3 (22,807) and S1 (22,780) went by 12:15, and the low of 22,662.0 printed three points above S2. The only real buying was +564 at 15:00.
Market-profile read. An Open-Rejection-Reverse into a b-shape: a long thin upper part from the 23,135 high, a wider base around the 22,727.1 POC (TPO count [55/10]), a value area of 22,678.6 to 22,989 and a Poor Low at 22,662.
Positioning. FIIs came in net short about 280K index futures contracts (up from 273K after about 7K added Monday), DIIs net long near 56%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR had gone from 0.92 to 0.69, futures OI was down 3.6% on a falling price and calls added 888L against 265L of puts, with the biggest writes at 23,000 CE and 22,800 CE — longs bailing, call writers pressing.
The trade, reasoned. Close short at 23,030 once the opening drive had stalled at R1, the 9:45 bar turned negative and price was back down to the CPR bottom — not selling the gap-up open into a drive that was still working, not chasing the 10:00 reversal bar. Stop at 23,100, just above R1, 70 points of risk: a reclaim of R1 after the rejection would have invalidated the idea, and it never came. First lot closes at daily S1 (22,780, hit against a low of 22,662.0) for +250 points. Second lot moves to break-even and trails 15-minute lower highs through the whole slide and the afternoon base, and is trailed out around 22,750 on the 15:00 bounce for +280 points, average +265 points across both lots. The edge was the rejection at a named level (R1) confirmed by the first reversal bar and then by the break of Monday's low, not a forecast.
Pivot read. Open 22,659.9 sat below the entire wide daily CPR (TC 22,796.2, BC 22,898.5, about 102 points) and three points below Wednesday's Poor Low (22,662.0) — a double bearish open-location read. A wide CPR after a 473-point range session reduces the pivot's directional precision, but the open's position below TC and below the prior session's structural floor was unambiguous.
Order-flow read. The opening bars included a 2.59K delta buy bar that drove price from the 22,659 open up to 22,818.6, above TC (22,796). OI Sense read Long Unwinding from the first bar — a push above a resistance level on Long Unwinding is the classic squeeze setup, not a breakout. The Poor High at 22,748.4 on the 30-minute profile confirmed that almost no time was spent at those prices. Cumulative delta then rolled over and the market sold in stages: through pLow (22,662), through Camarilla L3 (22,615), through the weekly low (22,592.6), through the September low (22,579), and to a session low of 22,550.9 — within nine points of daily S1 (22,559.6). From there, an 886-delta buy bar anchored the recovery; OI Sense flipped to Short Covering and held it into the close, which printed at 22,723.1, above VWAP near 22,700.
Market-profile read. A P-shape on the 30-minute profile: the broadest TPO concentration is in the 22,695 to 22,748 value area, a Poor High at 22,748.4 (one or two TPOs, no price acceptance above), and a single-print tail from 22,620 down to 22,550.9. POC near 22,723, which is where the session closed. The tail is a failed auction — sellers could not hold prices below the September low and had to cover.
Positioning. OI Sense read Long Unwinding through the descent and Short Covering on the recovery — long liquidation on the way down, short profit-taking on the way back up. The 268-point range with a 20-point net change on the day and a close at the session's POC is a stop-hunt signature: stops below the September low and the weekly low were elected, then the market snapped back. FII and precise PCR data pending the EOD positioning update.
The trade, reasoned. Close short at 22,745, just below the Poor High at 22,748.4, once the Long Unwinding squeeze above TC had failed to hold and delta confirmed the rollover — not selling the opening gap-down (too much uncertainty about the bounce), not chasing the push to 22,818. Stop at 22,820, just above the session high, 75 points of risk; the thesis is invalidated if price reclaims and holds above TC with positive delta, which never happened. First lot closes at Camarilla L3 / S3 (22,620, hit against a low of 22,550.9) for +125 points. Second lot moves to break-even and trails 15-minute lower highs through the weekly-low and September-low zone; the Short Covering flip on the recovery triggers the exit around 22,580 for +165 points, average +145 points across both lots. The month's smallest edge — a 1.9R trade where the runner was caught by the Short Covering snap-back rather than a clean trail — but the entry logic was identical to Oct 19 and Oct 21: a squeeze above a named level on Long Unwinding, waited for the rollover.
Narrow CPR (~25 pts) from Thursday's H/L/C (22,818.6 / 22,550.9 / 22,723.1): TC 22,710.3 / PP 22,697.5 / BC 22,684.8. A narrow CPR points to trend day. The open at 22,780 is well above TC — bullish open-location read. R1 sits at 22,844.1. Thursday's pHigh is at 22,818.6 and Thursday's Poor High at 22,748.4. The resistance stack from 22,748 to 22,844 is significant: three structural ceilings in 96 points.
First bar: 6.75K volume, OI Sense reads Short Buildup — new short supply entering against the gap-up, not covering. Cumulative delta negative by bar two. The opening push reaches 22,853.3 (nine points above R1) and stalls. VWAP, which opened near 22,820, curves steeply downward before 9:30. The signal is complete: rollover below pHigh (22,818.6) with Short Buildup confirmed and delta already negative. Short entry triggered below 22,800 on the first lower bar.
The 22,853 high prints a Poor High — barely one period of TPOs. No acceptance. The market spends the session building value in the 22,467.6–22,657.2 zone (lower third of the day's range), POC at 22,574.3. Poor Low at 22,435 — the weekly low — is a thin auction at the extreme, with the 8.88K climactic volume bar confirming exhaustion.
Futures OI +0.11% on a down day = Short Buildup throughout the session. Unlike Thursday's Long Unwinding (longs exiting), Friday's read is fresh shorts being added. That supply drove the descent and became the covering fuel for the recovery.
Setup: narrow CPR + open above it signals trend day. Open-location read is initially long. The first 15 minutes invalidate it: Short Buildup at R1 (22,853), delta negative from bar two, VWAP rolling over. The framework flips the read — narrow CPR now signals trend day short. Entry: short on the rollover below pHigh (22,818.6), triggered near 22,800. Stop: 22,860 (above the 22,853 spike, 60-pt risk). First lot: target S3 / Thursday's prior-session S3 reference at 22,620 — hit as price walked through pHigh, TC, BC and every pivot in order. Second lot: break-even stop moved up, trailed on 15-minute lower highs through the wLow (22,435) and the 8.88K climactic bar; Short Covering recovery stopped the runner near 22,560 in the final hour. Average exit: 22,560. Points: +240. ₹: ₹31,200. R:R: 4.0×.
Narrow CPR (~37 pts) from Friday's H/L/C (22,853.3 / 22,435.0 / 22,589.0): TC 22,607.4 / PP 22,625.8 / BC 22,644.2. A narrow CPR points to trend day. The open at 22,560.0 is 47 points below TC — a bearish open location, initially suggesting trend day short. The organising level pre-market was the wLow at 22,440: a level that held on Short Covering in Oct 23's final hour after a 418-point collapse. Two tests of the same structural extreme in three sessions is not noise.
The first two bars posted -1.26K and -1.79K cumulative delta as price fell from 22,560 to 22,440. At the wLow, the signal changed: Short Covering (OI Sense orange), futures OI declining as price rose — trapped short supply buying back, not fresh buyers initiating. The next bars: +415, +1.58K, +1.21K, +1.21K in sequence. The session reclaimed TC, PP and BC in a single move. The midday 11.56K volume bar — the heaviest of the session — held price above VWAP for the rest of the day without a single test below. Camarilla H3 (22,704) was crossed without a meaningful reversal bar.
A Trend Day up: Open Rejection Reverse from the wLow. Value settled in the 22,608.3–22,700 area, POC 22,663.5. [34/26] TPO distribution confirms upside skew. Poor High at 22,785.1 — single-print top in the final hour, price reached and did not revisit. The session's close at 22,774.8 is well above the POC and above all CPR levels.
Short Covering read held from the wLow to the close — OI declining on rising price, Friday's Short Buildup inventory being bought back. Two-session sequence: Friday built shorts at the extreme, Monday squeezed them out from the same level. Max pain at 22,700; close at 22,774 sits 74 points above it heading into Tuesday's expiry.
Setup: narrow CPR flags trend day. Open below TC is bearish open-location — but the wLow (22,440) is the week's structural organiser, held once on Short Covering, and the framework demands order-flow confirmation before the open-location bias directs a trade. The first two bars drive to 22,440: negative delta, consistent with the bearish bias. The third bar: Short Covering fires. Entry long at 22,465 (above the wLow reversal bar, after OI Sense confirmation). Stop 22,405 (below the wLow, 60 pts of risk; the thesis is invalid if the wLow breaks and holds below). First lot: target BC 22,644 (CPR bottom reclaim from below — the natural first test of a CPR reclaim) — hit as price moved TC, PP, BC in a single clean sequence. Second lot: break-even stop, trailed on 15-minute higher lows; the 11.56K midday absorption bar anchored the session above VWAP and prevented any meaningful pullback; runner trailed into the final hour as the market entered the Poor High box (22,760–22,790) and exited near 22,770. Average exit: 22,707. Points: +242. ₹: ₹31,460. R:R: 4.0×.
Very wide CPR (~175 pts) computed from Monday's 350-point range session. Open at 22,700 is inside the CPR — neutral. CPR TC at 22,778.7 and the prior session's wHigh at 22,785.1 form a natural supply ceiling within 7 points of each other. R1 at 22,866.5 and Camarilla H4 at 22,863.6 are the hard ceiling above. Max pain sits at approximately 22,700–22,750 — the expected settlement zone.
Short Covering drives the opening push to 22,841.7 — the October contract's final high, right at the H4/R1 cluster. Delta turns immediately at the high. No continuation volume, no second push. The session then drifts; cumulative delta oscillates near zero for six hours. Short Covering on close as residual October shorts settle. The opening push was mechanical (OI settlement), not directional conviction.
Normal Variation — slight downside. Range 82.9 pts (expiry compression). Poor High at 22,785.1 (wHigh). POC at 22,806.7 well above the close at 22,748.3 — profile confirms the morning squeeze's excess was not accepted at the top. VAL at 22,698.2. [25/29] TPO skew slight downside.
Short Covering through the session as October OI decays toward settlement. No structural positioning — just the expiry auction finding its clearing price near max pain (22,749.75 settle).
Setup: very wide CPR on expiry day = compression and a fade, not a trend. The morning push drives to the wHigh (22,785.1) and overshoots to 22,841.7 on Short Covering — not a new trend, the last gasp of the October shorts being closed. Entry short at 22,810 after delta turns at the session high and no second push materialises. Stop 22,855 (above session high, 45 pts). First lot: target CPR centre / max pain zone (22,700 area — not reached, low was 22,635); runner: trailed on lower highs, the session never traded below 22,747 so runner stopped near break-even. Average exit: 22,755. Points: +55. ₹: ₹7,150. R:R: 1.2×.
Wide CPR (~103 pts) from the October expiry session's OHLC. Open at 22,690 barely below BC (22,692.4) and L3 (22,692.9) — borderline bearish open location. R1 at 22,849.3 and Camarilla H4 at 22,863.4 form a supply cluster 159–173 points above the open. S1 at 22,642.6 is the first downside target. September structural low at 22,579.0 is below that.
Short Buildup from bar one: bears adding fresh shorts into the gap-down open. Those new shorts get squeezed — 185-point run from 22,690 to 22,875.5, through R1 and H4. Delta turns immediately at the wHigh: large ask absorption, no second push, the wHigh printed as a single-bar extreme. From the high, cumulative delta turns and holds net negative through the entire afternoon. Short Buildup OI character held into the close — the new shorts added from 22,800+ through the afternoon were not covered by day's end.
Outside Day / Range Expansion. 308.5 pts, November contract Day 1 range discovery. Poor High at 22,875.5 — one-two TPO spike, no acceptance above 22,825. [16/41] TPO split at POC (22,776.8) confirms balance-seeking rather than trend. Close at 22,775.3 within one point of POC. Two-tailed profile: the market found both extremes and returned to the middle.
Short Buildup throughout. The squeeze at the open caught new bears adding into weakness, squeezed them to the wHigh, then the session gave those same bears a profitable entry from 22,800+ as the afternoon distribution ran through every level to the September Low. OI held into the close — Short Buildup overhang is the overnight setup.
Setup: wide CPR + barely bearish open on November contract Day 1 = range expansion, not trend. The Short Buildup opening squeeze to 22,875.5 runs into the R1/H4 supply cluster (22,849–22,863); the wHigh at 22,875.5 overshoots by 12 points and immediately reverses. Entry short at 22,855 after delta turns and no second push materialises. Stop 22,895 (above wHigh, 40 pts). First lot: target S1 22,642.6 (hit — low reached 22,567). Second lot: break-even stop, trailed on 15-minute lower highs through the afternoon distribution; the September low breach at 22,567 was on thin volume (Poor Low, no continuation); runner closed near 22,600 as Short Covering recovery from 22,567 accelerated. Average exit: 22,622. Points: +233. ₹: ₹30,290. R:R: 5.8×.
Every trading session of October 2026, worked at depth: the pivot map, the order flow, the profile, the positioning, and a step-by-step retail playbook for each day. All levels are off the NIFTY futures chart (October contract, expiry Oct 27); the order-flow reads are from the 15-minute footprint.
Living document — a session is added the evening each trading day closes. Private until the month-end publish — nothing renders on the site until then. The polished ledger, ROI model and tickets are assembled at month-end from this log.
1. Header — futures O/H/L/C and the points/% change vs. the prior close.
2. The map that morning — the daily CPR (width, and whether it's a weak-close CPR), the daily R/S ladder, the daily Camarilla, the weekly CPR, and prev-day/prev-week high-low. All computed, all known before 9:15.
3. Open location — where price opened relative to the daily CPR (above = bullish, inside = neutral, below = bearish).
4. Order flow — the cumulative-delta path, OI-behaviour reads, the footprint signals by name.
5. Market profile — day type, poor high/low, range.
6. Positioning — OI behaviour on the day, the FII/retail lean.
7. What smart money was doing — one line.
8. The retail playbook — before 9:15 → the open → trigger → risk → management → where you'd be wrong → the reversal.
9. Lesson.
The standing rule: you only act at a level, and only when the flow at that level agrees with your bias.
Updated through Oct 8. October's first week (Gandhi Jayanti closed the market Friday, Oct 2) ran five genuine sessions and traced a complete arc: a wide two-way swing to open the month, a gap-up that faded, a clean trend day to a fresh high carrying a quiet Long Unwinding warning sign, a reversal that confirmed it, and a full breakdown that closed the week on the month's steepest single-session drop — through the Poor Low that had held since September.
| Week | Weekly CPR | Width | Forecast | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 1 (single session, Fri Oct 2 holiday) | 23,214.5 – 23,270.0 (from Sep 21–25) | Normal, ~56 pt | bearish lean (price opened ~640 pts below it) | opened far below, wide two-way swing, closed down |
| Oct 5 – 8 | 22,562.9 – 22,628.0 (from Sep 28–Oct 1) | Normal, ~65 pt | price opened inside/above early, then broke decisively below by week's end | gap-up fade → trend day → reversal → breakdown clean through it |
Weekly levels (from Sep 21–25): BC 23,270.0 · PP 23,242.3 · TC 23,214.5 · R1 23,428.5 · S1 23,000.4 · Camarilla H3 23,304.4 · L3 23,069.0 · Prev-week High 23,484.1 · Prev-week Low 23,056.0.
Price opened October more than 600 points below the governing weekly CPR — deep into territory the prior week's range never touched, the gap having opened up over the last two sessions of September. The weekly levels are a backdrop, not a trigger; the real references for the day were the prior session's own H/L/C and the daily pivots below.

Open 22,630.0 sat well below the entire daily CPR (BC 22,813–TC 22,742.5) — a bearish open location by the book, but with a 70-pt CPR (not ultra-narrow), this was a "lean down, confirm with flow" day, not an automatic trend call.
The 15-minute footprint opened with Short Build Up and Unwinding stacked together — a mixed read, not a clean signal. Price pushed up to a Poor High near 22,702 early (just shy of the daily TC 22,742.5, rejecting inside the CPR's own lower edge), then cumulative delta rolled over hard through the morning into a trough well below daily S2, before a real afternoon recovery clawed back a meaningful chunk of the move.
A Poor High near 22,702, then a wide, two-sided range down to 22,321 before the afternoon recovery — the month's widest single-session range so far (381 points), incomplete auctions on both ends.
FII/retail participant data for this session wasn't available same-day; the order-flow's own mixed open-day read (Short Build Up + Unwinding together) is the best same-day signal, and it correctly flagged a session that wouldn't resolve cleanly in one direction.
Pressing short into the early Poor High rejection, but not aggressively enough to prevent a real afternoon recovery — a day of position-sizing discipline, not conviction.
Before 9:15: bearish lean from the open-below-CPR read, but the 70-pt CPR width argues for confirmation, not an automatic trade. The open: price opens below the whole CPR, as expected. Trigger: a rejection at the Poor High near 22,702, well inside TC, confirms the bearish lean. Risk: a tight stop just above the rejection high. Management: first lot off at daily S2 (hit, since the low reached well below it); second lot trailed hard given the depth of the move, but needed to be walked down aggressively once the afternoon recovery began. Where you'd be wrong: a reclaim of TC 22,742.5 would have invalidated the whole read. The reversal: the afternoon recovery back to 22,530.3 is exactly that kind of reversal, just not one that reached far enough to threaten the short before the close.
A mixed order-flow read at the open (Short Build Up and Unwinding together) isn't noise — it's the market itself telling you the session won't be one-directional. The trade still worked because the level (the Poor High rejection) did the real work, but the exit discipline on the second lot mattered more than usual given how hard the afternoon clawed back.

Monday opened essentially on top of this week's governing CPR — a genuinely neutral starting point, unlike October 1's wide gap below. What makes this week's structure notable in hindsight: the week's only clean trend day (Tuesday) pushed well clear of the weekly CPR to the upside, and by Thursday the market had broken decisively back below it, confirming the CPR zone as real resistance rather than just a statistical artifact.

Open 22,630.0 sat well above the ultra-narrow ~12-pt daily CPR — a clean bullish open-location read, and a narrow CPR this tight is normally a trend-day signal.
The session opened with a Short Covering read, consistent with the gap up. Price pushed to a fresh high of 22,729 early — almost exactly tagging the daily R1 (22,714.8) — then gave back most of that strength through the session, closing at 22,620.8, a mid-range close that kept the gap's shape without confirming genuine trend follow-through.
A session that pushed to a new high early, then faded through a wide range back toward the CPR — the profile never built the kind of one-sided structure the narrow CPR's trend-day signal would normally predict.
Short Covering at the open is consistent with shorts from the prior week's trend being squeezed on the gap — but the fade through the session suggests that covering ran its course quickly rather than building into fresh long conviction.
Covering shorts into the gap, not adding fresh longs — exactly the kind of session that looks bullish on the open and resolves as a pause instead.
Before 9:15: an ultra-narrow daily CPR with the open well above it should, by the rule, be a trend-day long. The open: confirms the bullish read. Trigger: a push to confirm above the CPR with real flow. Risk: a stop back inside the CPR. Management: first lot off at daily R1 (hit at 22,714.8 against a high of 22,729); second lot's stop needed to move to breakeven quickly once the fade began, given the session gave back almost the entire move by the close. Where you'd be wrong: a reversal back into the CPR zone — which is almost exactly what happened by the close. The reversal: the fade from 22,729 to a 22,510.2 low is the session invalidating its own narrow-CPR trend-day promise.
A narrow CPR is a trend-day signal, not a trend-day guarantee — this session is the reminder. The framework's own 2-lot discipline (bank the first target, protect the second with a breakeven stop) is what turns a failed trend-day read into a modest win instead of a round-trip loss.

Open 22,660.0 sat clearly above an almost perfectly flat ~1-pt daily CPR — about as clean a bullish trend-day signal as the framework produces.
Cumulative delta climbed steadily from the open — no chop, no hesitation. Price ran to a fresh high of 22,830, clearing daily R1 (22,729.8) early and pushing toward R2 (22,838.8). But the footprint printed a Long Unwinding read right near the session's own high — an odd signal on a day this strong, and the first real tell (in hindsight) that the move up was running on momentum rather than fresh buying that could sustain a continuation.
A clean trend day, closing near its best levels — textbook structure for a narrow-CPR trend signal, which is exactly what makes the Long Unwinding read notable: the profile looked perfect while the order flow was already hinting otherwise.
The Long Unwinding read near the high is the session's real information: longs who'd ridden the move were starting to book out right as the narrow-CPR crowd was piling in on the breakout, a classic late-stage-of-a-move signature.
Taking profit into strength — exiting into the same push that was drawing fresh buyers in on the narrow-CPR signal.
Before 9:15: an almost flat daily CPR with the open above it is the cleanest trend-day long signal the framework produces. The open: confirms. Trigger: immediate — price clears R1 within the first hour. Risk: a stop back inside the tiny CPR. Management: first lot off at R1 (hit); second lot trailed on 15-minute higher lows, riding the move to a strong close near the day's high. Where you'd be wrong: a reversal back below the CPR — which didn't happen this session. The reversal (next session): Wednesday's Poor High rejection, well short of this day's 22,830 high, is where this day's quiet warning actually got paid off.
The week's best-looking trend day carried its own undoing inside it. A Long Unwinding read near a fresh high doesn't invalidate the trade in the moment — the 2-lot structure still captured the move — but it's exactly the kind of signal that matters most on the next session's open-location read, not this one's.

Open 22,690.0 sat below the daily CPR (BC 22,734–TC 22,774.9) — a bearish open-location read, consistent with Tuesday's Long Unwinding warning.
The session opened with Long Unwinding again, and this time it meant what it said. Price pushed to a Poor High of 22,782.1 — landing almost exactly on the daily TC (22,774.9), rejecting right at the level the CPR itself flagged as resistance — well short of Tuesday's 22,830 high. Cumulative delta rolled over from there through the session.
A Poor High rejection right at the daily CPR's own top edge, followed by a steady slide to a close testing back toward the pre-October low shelf (22,592.5 / 22,579.0) — the profile confirming what the order flow had already signalled.
The Long Unwinding read repeating from Tuesday (where it was a quiet warning inside a strong day) to Wednesday (where it drove the whole session) is the clearest two-day sequence of the week: the same signal, escalating.
Continuing to exit longs into any strength — Tuesday's unwinding becoming Wednesday's active selling once the rally attempt failed at the CPR's own resistance.
Before 9:15: open below the CPR, with Tuesday's Long Unwinding read still fresh, argues for a short bias on confirmation rather than an automatic trend call (the CPR here is 41 points, not ultra-narrow). The open: confirms the bearish lean. Trigger: the Poor High rejection at 22,782.1, right at daily TC. Risk: a stop just above the rejection high. Management: first lot off at daily S1 (hit); second lot trailed down through the steady afternoon slide, closing near the session low. Where you'd be wrong: a clean break and hold above TC/the Poor High — which didn't happen. The reversal: none this session — Thursday extended the move instead.
When the same order-flow signal repeats on back-to-back sessions — a quiet version inside a strong day, then an active version driving a weak one — that's the framework's clearest kind of confirmation. The level (daily TC, matching the Poor High almost exactly) is what turned the signal into a tradeable trigger.

Open 22,580.0 sat below the whole daily CPR — and the session's entire range (high 22,614.3) never even reclaimed the CPR's lower edge (TC 22,651.0), the cleanest bearish open-location confirmation of the week.
Cumulative delta turned negative within the first half hour and never recovered — no afternoon bounce attempt at all. OI-behaviour cycled Short Build Up and Long Unwinding back to back through the session, more than once — fresh shorts opening while the longs still left standing from Tuesday's high kept getting forced out. Sell volume ran through the 50s and 60s percent for most of the session.
The week's stair-step closed by printing a fresh Poor Low at 22,278.3, breaking clean through the Poor Low that had held since the month began — the most decisive structural break of the week.
FIIs holding roughly 91% of their index futures positions short against retail near 84% long is the backdrop this session resolved against — the repeated Long Unwinding cycling lines up with those retail longs being forced out, not just fresh institutional shorts pressing into a flat book.
Pressing the short with conviction while the week's remaining longs capitulated — the session's OI-behaviour is a textbook "both sides pushing the same direction" read.
Before 9:15: open well below the CPR, after two straight sessions confirming the Long Unwinding theme, argues for a trend-day short. The open: confirms immediately — the session's high never reclaims the CPR. Trigger: no reclaim attempt, straight conviction from the open. Risk: a stop above TC. Management: first lot off at daily S2 (hit, given the low reached well below it); second lot trailed hard given the total absence of a bounce, closing near the session low. Where you'd be wrong: any reclaim of TC with real buying — never happened. The reversal: none this session.
The week's full arc — a quiet warning inside a strong day, a confirmation, then a breakdown — is the framework at its most instructive: the earliest, quietest signal (Tuesday's Long Unwinding near the high) carried more information than either of the two louder days that followed it. The trade that mattered most this week wasn't Thursday's breakdown short, it was noticing Tuesday's signal at all.

Open 22,356.0 landed inside the daily CPR (TC 22,330.5–BC 22,441.6) — a neutral open-location read, unlike every prior session this week. The real signal this day wasn't the pivots; it was price opening right into a broader daily-chart demand zone that's held since March, flagged in the pre-market read before the open.
The session opened with a Short Covering read, and cumulative delta backed it up almost immediately — climbing steadily rather than needing the session to prove itself first. A brief midday pause (roughly 11:00–12:30) cooled the climb without reversing it; by early afternoon the climb resumed and carried through to the close. Buy-side volume dominated most of the session, cleanest in the first 90 minutes.
The first session since September 30 to break the stair-step of lower Poor Highs/Poor Lows — Friday traded back up through several of the week's own prior resistance levels (22,513.9, 22,566, 22,633.1), which flipped to support on the way up.
Friday is the first real test of the week's positioning split (FIIs near 91% short, retail near 84% long) resolving upward — the Short Covering order-flow read directly supports a short-covering origin for the move, not fresh long conviction, which is consistent with how one-sided and immediate the rally was.
Covering into the demand zone rather than adding fresh shorts into it — the session's Short Covering read from the open is the clearest same-day evidence.
Before 9:15: open landing inside a wide CPR gives no clean pivot signal, so the daily-chart demand zone (not the CPR) is the real pre-market reference. The open: opens into the zone, doesn't test lower. Trigger: Short Covering confirmed from the open, delta climbing immediately. Risk: a stop below the session's own early low. Management: first lot off at daily R1 (hit, high reached 22,665); second lot trailed on 15-minute higher lows through the midday pause, closing near the session high. Where you'd be wrong: a failure to hold the demand zone and a fresh low — never happened. The reversal: none this session, the cleanest one-directional day since the stair-step began.
The week's biggest tell (Tuesday's Long Unwinding) called the breakdown; the weekend's real question was always what happens when the breakdown reaches a level with actual history behind it. A demand zone that's held since March doing its job isn't proof the down-move is over — but it's exactly the kind of level that should produce a reaction if the framework's reading the bigger picture correctly, and Friday is the first real evidence that it did.
Weekly levels (from Oct 5–9): BC 22,508.0 · PP 22,547.0 · TC 22,586.0 · R1 22,743.0 · S1 22,429.0 · Camarilla H3 22,711.3 · L3 22,538.7 · Prev-week High 22,830.0 · Prev-week Low 22,268.9.
Monday opened above this week's own governing CPR, pushed further above it early, then gave the whole move back — a session that tested the week's resistance and lost. Whether the CPR zone itself turns into support on a retest, or the week resumes down through it, is this week's open question.

Open 22,657.0 sat above the entire daily CPR (TC 22,586.0) — a bullish open-location read, consistent with the pre-market expectation that NIFTY would test the Oct 6 Poor High overhead zone from below.
A Long Unwinding read fired right at the open — not something the session had to build toward, it was there from the first bars. Cumulative delta began sliding immediately and never threatened a recovery through the rest of the session, the clean mirror of Friday's one-directional rally, this time to the downside. Sell-side volume ran heaviest through the late-morning stretch.
A fresh Poor Low (22,379.5 / 22,415.3) undoing Friday's break in the stair-step pattern, pointing the structure back toward Thursday Oct 8's old Poor Low shelf.
The session is the clearest test yet of the week's positioning split (FIIs near 91% short, retail near 84% long) resolving downward again — Long Unwinding firing immediately after Friday's Short Covering rally is consistent with the retail longs who bought Friday's bounce giving it straight back.
Selling into the early push toward the overhead zone rather than waiting for it to fail first — the immediate Long Unwinding read is the clearest same-day evidence.
Before 9:15: open above the daily CPR, pushing toward the pre-flagged overhead zone, argues for watching the rejection rather than chasing the open. The open: confirms the bullish push early. Trigger: Long Unwinding firing right at the open is the actual signal — not a breakout, a rejection warning. Risk: a stop above the session's own early high. Management: first lot off at daily S1 (hit, low reached 22,370.7); second lot trailed hard given the total absence of a bounce, closing near the session low. Where you'd be wrong: a hold above TC with real buying — never happened past the first hour. The reversal: none this session.
Friday's lesson was a level with real history doing its job on the way up; Monday's is the same lesson in reverse — the Oct 6 Poor High zone had its own history, and the order flow (Long Unwinding at the open) flagged the rejection before price even finished testing it. The framework's edge this week hasn't been predicting direction from the open — it's been catching the order-flow tell that arrives before the obvious price action does.

Open 22,400.1 sat below the entire daily CPR — a bearish open-location read, and price immediately tested Monday's low (22,370.7) by under three points (22,368.0) in the first bar. The test found no sellers and the market was back above the CPR within the first half hour.
The 9:15 bar: 7.98K volume, 69.95% buy, +3.18K delta. OI Sense read Short Covering from open to close. Cumulative delta rose to 5.58K by 10:00, gave back to 4.57K by 11:15 (the 10:30 bar's -582 was the morning's largest sell bar and moved nothing), then climbed from 4.73K at 12:15 to 5.92K at 13:45 while price stayed pinned in a 22,600 to 22,700 band — absorption. The 14:15 to 14:45 breakout came on 2.51K, 4.80K (Multiple Imbalances box, +1.56K delta) and 8.19K volume; cumulative delta finished at 9.13K after a 9.51K high at 15:15. VWAP closed at 22,680.9, 154 points under the close.
A Buying Tail from the A period at the low, a balanced body between roughly 22,560 and 22,680, the POC at 22,617.5 and a value area of 22,493 to 22,758.6, then J to M single prints above the value area high up to the 22,879.0 high. Open-Test-Drive into a Normal Variation day.
FIIs entered the day net short about 296K index futures contracts (294K the session before), DIIs net long near 54%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR was 1.42 (from 0.83 at the open), max pain 22,650 (from 22,400), futures OI down 0.7%; put writers added at 22,650 and 22,600 against falling call OI.
Covering shorts into every dip rather than waiting for confirmation — the +3.18K, 70%-buy first bar is the clearest same-day evidence, and the flat-price, rising-delta stretch from 12:30 shows the buying being absorbed rather than chased.
Before 9:15: open below a bearish-leaning CPR, Monday's Poor Low sitting right under the open, argues for watching the retest rather than assuming a breakdown. The open: undercuts Monday's low and finds no follow-through. Trigger: the first bar's Short Covering confirmation with price back above the CPR top and the Camarilla H3 (22,496). Risk: a stop just under the daily TC (22,430). Management: first lot off at R1 (22,623, hit), second lot to break-even and trailed on 15-minute higher lows, booked into the close. Where you'd be wrong: a failed CPR reclaim — never happened. The reversal: none; the close sat 44 points under the high.
The retest the market seemed to be asking for happened in fifteen minutes and was over. What the framework gave was the reading of why: delta, volume percentage and the OI Sense state all said the low was being bought, and the CPR said the bearish open-location read had been invalidated inside the first half hour. Same lesson as the last three sessions, different direction: the order-flow tell arrives before the price action looks obvious.

Open 22,784.1 sat right at the CPR top (TC 22,781.1) after a 2% squeeze the day before — a marginally bullish open-location read that failed inside the first bar.
The 9:15 bar: 10.04K volume, 60.78% sell, -2.16K delta, high 22,816.6 and a reversal through the open. Cumulative delta was -4.28K by 10:15 and flat near -4.5K through noon while price rotated 22,700 to 22,780 around a flat VWAP near 22,758. The 12:45 bar (-1.47K, 79.63% sell) and 13:00 bar (7.57K volume, -2.18K, 83.62% sell) broke the pivot and the CPR bottom and ran to 22,580.0, within a point of the September low and the Camarilla L4 (22,579). OI Sense held Short Build Up for the second half of the day. After the break cumulative delta stayed in a -8.1K to -8.9K band; the one real buy burst was 13:45 (+785, 70.98% buy), and VWAP slid to about 22,700 with price below it into the close.
A double distribution: morning cluster under a Poor High (22,816.6), TPO POC 22,746.6 and value area high 22,803.7, H-period single prints for the break, a lower afternoon distribution near 22,640 to 22,700, and a Poor Low at 22,580. TPO count at the POC [16/42].
FIIs entered the day net short about 289K index futures contracts (296K the session before), DIIs net long near 55%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR was 0.87 (from 1.38 at the open), max pain 22,600 (from 22,700), futures OI up 1.1%; call OI added 607L against 68L of puts, the biggest writes at 23,000 CE and 22,700 CE. Futures fell about 186 points against about 99 for spot, compressing the premium from about 113 to about 26.
Selling into the open's push to the CPR top rather than waiting for it to break — the -2.16K first bar and the cumulative delta that never turned positive are the same-day evidence — then pressing again at 12:45 and 13:00.
Before 9:15: an open at the CPR top after a 2% squeeze argues for watching for rejection, not chasing. The open: tags 22,816.6 and reverses. Trigger: the first bar's sell volume confirming, with price back under the CPR top. Risk: a stop above the early high (22,820). Management: first lot at the CPR bottom (22,624, hit in the 13:00 break), second lot to break-even and trailed on 15-minute lower highs, booked near the close. Where you'd be wrong: a reclaim of the CPR top with positive delta — never happened. The reversal: the afternoon bounce stopped at 22,690.
Tuesday's lesson was that the order-flow tell (Short Covering) came before the move; Wednesday's is the mirror, and a reminder that the same read does not pay the same amount every day. The rejection was visible in the first fifteen minutes, but the money came three and a half hours later, and the first target sat where the market only arrived at 13:00. A win is still a win; it is just a smaller one when the first target is far from the entry.

Open 22,671.0 sat inside the narrow CPR at its TC after Wednesday's 42% give-back — a neutral open-location read that resolved upward immediately; the open was also the low of the day (an Open Drive).
The 9:15 bar: 7.48K volume, 69.65% buy, +1.44K delta; three bars into the session cumulative delta was +4.23K and price was above Wednesday's high. The 10:00 bar (7.21K volume, +92) was two-sided churn that resolved up at 10:45 (+1.25K, 62% buy). Delta stepped up at 11:15 (+811), 11:30 (+781), 12:15 (+841, 74.69% buy) and 12:30 (+872), and peaked at +10.14K at 14:00 after the 23,095.0 high. Four sell bars from 14:15 to 15:00 (-501, -500, -447, -563) took cumulative delta to +8.13K and price to a few points above VWAP (about 22,942); the close was at +8.60K, 43 points above VWAP. OI Sense: Short Covering across the whole session.
A P-shape: a long column of single prints from the 22,671 open to roughly 22,900 (the A period), a value area of 22,893.2 to 23,086.8, a POC at 22,977.9 [13/19] and a Poor High at 23,095.0, on a 1-hour chart.
FIIs entered net short about 297K index futures contracts, DIIs net long near 44%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR was 1.64 (from 0.94), max pain 22,900 (from 22,650), futures OI down 3.2%; puts added 712L against 163L fewer calls inside the window, with the biggest writes at 22,800 PE and 22,900 PE.
Covering shorts from the first bar rather than waiting for a pullback — the +4.23K cumulative delta after three bars and the OI Sense colour that never changed are the same-day evidence — and then selling into strength after 2 pm.
Before 9:15: a narrow CPR and an open inside it argue for watching which side the first bar picks, not predicting it. The open: prints the low immediately. Trigger: the first bar's buy volume confirming with price above the CPR and the Camarilla H3. Risk: a stop under the open and the CPR top (22,650). Management: first lot off at R1 (22,784), second lot to break-even and trailed on 15-minute higher lows, out near R3 after the afternoon fade began. Where you'd be wrong: a failed first bar back through the CPR — never happened. The reversal: the four sell bars after 14:00, stopped above VWAP.
Wednesday's lesson was how fast a floor-stack can fail on the wrong side of a rejection; Thursday's is the mirror, and it carries a second one — the first lot's target and the second lot's trail are two different trades, and on a trend day the second one pays. The tell was the same: an order-flow read (+1.44K, 69.65% buy) in the first fifteen minutes, ahead of the price action.

Open 23,058.0 sat well above the entire daily CPR after a gap of 73 points over Thursday's settle — a bullish open-location read, immediately contradicted by the first bar's selling.
The 9:15 bar: 4.59K volume, 59.62% sell, -882 delta, OI Sense Long Unwinding. The 9:30 bar printed the 22,908.0 low and closed +301 on 53.83% buy. The 10:00 bar +1.3K (68.31% buy) and the 10:15 bar +628 took price through the open to 23,154.6; cumulative delta went from -882 to +1.4K in four bars. OI Sense switched to Short Covering after the opening bar and held it all session. From about 10:30 to the close the market was in an 80-point box (23,075 to 23,155) above a rising VWAP (23,030 to 23,079), volume 500 to 700 per bar through midday, cumulative delta +0.8K to +1.99K. The only real sell bars were 12:45 (-220, 70.99% sell) and 14:45 (-619, 66.74% sell); buyers answered with +291 and +180 at 15:00 and 15:15. Cumulative delta closed at +1.6K.
An Open-Rejection-Reverse and a P-shape on a 30-minute profile: a thin A and B leg from 22,925 to 23,057, a developed body with a value area of 23,057.7 to 23,148.3 and a POC at 23,110.5, a Poor High at 23,154.6.
FIIs entered net short about 280K index futures contracts (297K the session before; about 17K covered Thursday), DIIs net long near 56% (44% before). By the 3:15 pm check PCR was 1.34 (from 1.42), max pain 23,050 (from 22,950), futures OI down 0.1%; puts +549L against calls +499L inside the window, biggest writes 23,100 PE and 23,150 CE.
Selling the gap into the open (Long Unwinding), then buying the low — the +301 absorption at 22,908 and the +1.3K bar are the same-day evidence — and then simply holding the box.
Before 9:15: a gap-up above a narrow CPR argues for waiting to see which way the first bars go, not buying the gap. The open: sold for 150 points with Long Unwinding. Trigger: the low absorbed (+301 at 22,908), then price back above the CPR top. Risk: a stop just under the flush low and the support stack (22,895). Management: R1 was never reached, so both lots trailed on 15-minute higher lows and closed near 23,080 when the 14:45 sell bar broke the last one. Where you'd be wrong: a failed reclaim of the CPR top — never happened. The reversal: the box after 10:15 gave nothing back beyond 23,075.
Thursday's lesson was about the second lot paying on a trend day; Friday's is the opposite — a V-shaped open that pays in the first 90 minutes and then stops, with a first target that sat further away than the market ever went. The entry at the absorbed low was the entire trade. The tell was the order-flow pair of Long Unwinding at the open and the first positive bar at the low (+301), not the headline gap.

Open 23,160.8 sat well above the entire narrow CPR after a 42-point gap over Friday's settle — a bullish open-location read that the first bar contradicted.
The 9:15 bar: 7.25K volume, 63.61% sell, -1.97K delta, a drop of about 210 points from the 23,182.0 high; OI Sense Long Unwinding. The 9:30 bar bounced +863 on 60.55% buy and a second push at 10:30 reached about 23,150, a lower high under Friday's 23,154.6. From 10:45 price rotated under the CPR top (23,086) with volume of 700 to 1,500 per bar. The 11:30 bar (-940, 71.21% sell) took out the CPR bottom and L3, the 12:00 bar (-786, 64.74% sell) took out L4 and S1, and the 13:15 bar (-1.12K, 71.49% sell, 2.6K volume) took out Friday's 22,908.0 low. Cumulative delta went from -1.2K at 11:15 to -5.52K at 13:15 and no worse at the 22,866.2 low (-5.49K); every bar from 14:30 was net positive (+183, +75, +181, +164, +200) and it closed at -4.69K.
A top-heavy 30-minute profile: an A to E cluster at 23,030 to 23,180, a thin F to H run through 22,950 to 23,000, an I to M base at 22,870 to 22,920, value area 23,107.2 to 22,908 and a POC at 23,032.5, with the close below value and a Poor Low at 22,866.
FIIs entered net short about 273K index futures contracts (280K before), DIIs net long near 57%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR was 0.78 (from 1.21), max pain 22,900 (from 23,100), futures OI down 0.7%; calls +1,030L against puts -89L, biggest writes 22,900 CE and 22,950 CE.
Selling the gap into the open and handing the long side back all day — the -1.97K first bar and the cyan Long Unwinding colour that never changed are the same-day evidence — with call writers pressing every bounce.
Before 9:15: a gap-up above a narrow CPR argues for waiting to see which way the first bars go, not buying the gap. The open: tags 23,182 and sells. Trigger: the 10:30 bounce failing as a lower high under Friday's high. Risk: a stop just above the open's high (23,185). Management: first lot off at S1 (22,962, hit), second lot to break-even and trailed on 15-minute lower highs, booked into the close. Where you'd be wrong: a reclaim of the CPR top with positive delta — never happened. The reversal: five net-positive bars from 14:30, with price flat at 22,870 to 22,920.
Friday's recap named the levels the day would trade through if the box broke down — 23,031, then 22,977 and 22,962, then 22,908 — and Monday walked through all of them in order. The map is not a prediction; it is a list of where a break would have to be tested, and the order flow decided it was being tested. The short waited for the lower high rather than selling the first bar's drop, which is why the risk was 55 points and not 100.

Open 22,993.0 sat inside the CPR near the pivot and H3 after a 98-point gap over Monday's settle — a neutral open-location read.
The 9:15 bar: 11.09K volume, 62.35% buy, +2.74K delta, driving to R1 (23,095); the 9:30 bar +523 printed the 23,135.0 high and the +3.26K cumulative peak; OI Sense Short Covering. The 9:45 bar -361 and the 10:00 bar -995 (4.7K, 60.59% sell) reversed price back through the 22,993 open; from 10:15 to 11:00 the market balanced just under VWAP (about 22,935 to 23,000) on deltas of +11, +33, +110 and -77. The 11:15 bar (-1.14K, 70.81% sell) and the 11:30 bar (-1.41K, 4.29K volume, 66.42% sell) swung cumulative delta from +1.98K to -569, took out Monday's 22,866.2 low and flipped OI Sense to Long Unwinding. The 12:00 and 12:15 bars (-557, -510) took out L3 and S1; cumulative delta ground to -3.68K at 14:45 with the low (22,662.0, three points above S2) on the 14:30 bar. The 15:00 bar (+564, 60.23% buy) was the only real recovery; the close was 150 points under a falling VWAP (about 22,895).
A b-shape on the 30-minute profile: a long thin upper part from the 23,135 high down through 22,990, a wider base at 22,680 to 22,760 around the 22,727.1 POC (TPO count [55/10]), value area 22,678.6 to 22,989 and a Poor Low at 22,662.
FIIs entered net short about 280K index futures contracts (273K before), DIIs net long near 56%. By the 3:15 pm check PCR was 0.69 (from 0.92), max pain 22,900 (from 23,050), futures OI down 3.6%; calls +888L against puts +265L, biggest writes 23,000 CE and 22,800 CE.
Selling the gap into R1 and the 23,135 poke rather than waiting for confirmation — the -995 reversal bar and the flip to Long Unwinding at 11:30 are the same-day evidence — then adding call writes into every bounce.
Before 9:15: a gap up inside a narrow bearish-leaning CPR argues for waiting to see whether R1 gets accepted, not chasing the open. The open: runs to R1 and tags 23,135. Trigger: the opening drive stalling, the 9:45 bar turning negative and price back at the CPR bottom. Risk: a stop above R1 (23,100). Management: first lot off at S1 (22,780, hit), second lot to break-even and trailed on 15-minute lower highs, out around 22,750 on the 15:00 bounce. Where you'd be wrong: a reclaim of R1 with positive delta — never happened. The reversal: the +564 bounce at 15:00 into a base 83 points above the low.
Monday's recap drew the ladder — 22,866, then 22,807 and 22,780 — and Wednesday walked down all of it in order after an opening drive that failed at the first named resistance. The map is not a prediction; it is a list of where a break has to be tested, and the order flow (a -995 reversal bar at 10:00, then -2.55K in two bars at 11:15 and 11:30) decided each test. The risk was 70 points on a trade that paid 265.

Open 22,659.9 sat below the entire CPR band (TC 22,796.2) and just three points below Wednesday's Poor Low (22,662.0) — a double bearish read before the first bar printed: below value and below the prior session's structural floor.
The opening bars showed a significant buy surge, including a 2.59K delta bar, that carried price from the 22,659 open up to 22,818.6, above the TC (22,796). OI Sense read Long Unwinding from the open: a push above TC on LU is a squeeze, not conviction, and the 22,748.4 Poor High on the 30-minute profile is the visual confirmation that almost nothing accepted those prices. Cumulative delta rolled over from the high and sold off in stages through every support in sequence: pLow (22,662), Camarilla L3 (22,615), the weekly low (22,592.6), and the September low (22,579), bottoming at 22,550.9 — the S1 at 22,559.6 almost exactly. From the 22,550 low, delta flipped and held positive; the 886 bar visible in the footprint anchors the recovery. OI Sense flipped to Short Covering on the lift and held it into the close; price recovered to 22,723.1, above a VWAP that finished near 22,700.
A P-shape on the 30-minute profile: the widest TPO bracket sits in the 22,695 to 22,748 value area, with a Poor High at 22,748.4 (one or two TPOs at the top, no acceptance) and a single-print tail from 22,620 down to 22,550.9. POC near 22,723, which is also where the session closed — the market found equilibrium and stopped. The tail from 22,620 to 22,550 is a failed auction: sellers could not hold the September low break and had to cover.
OI Sense stayed on Long Unwinding through the descent — net long liquidation on a falling price — and flipped to Short Covering on the recovery, which reads as shorts taking profit at the September low and below rather than new buyers stepping in. The scale of the range (268 points) versus the close's proximity to the open (20 points net) is a classic stop-hunt signature: stops clustered below 22,579 (September low) and 22,592 (weekly low) were elected, then the market snapped back. FII positioning detail awaits the EOD update; the OI Sense flip is the same-session evidence.
Engineering the sweep below the September low and the weekly low to elect stops, covering short inventory into the flush, and then not selling the close — the Short Covering OI Sense through the recovery and a close near the session's POC and above VWAP are the same-day evidence.
Before 9:15: a gap down below pLow and below the entire CPR argues for waiting to see whether the bounce stalls or reclaims TC, not selling the gap into momentum. The open: price surges to 22,818 above TC on Long Unwinding — the alert. Trigger: the push to 22,818 printing a Poor High at 22,748.4 with delta rolling over; entry below the Poor High once the rollover was confirmed. Risk: stop at 22,820, just above the session high, 75 points. Management: first lot off at Camarilla L3/S3 (22,620, hit), second lot to break-even and trailed through the weekly-low and September-low zone; booked near 22,580 on the Short Covering flip. Where you'd be wrong: a reclaim of TC (22,796) with positive delta — the session never recovered that high during the descent. The reversal: Short Covering from 22,550, closing at 22,723 above VWAP.
A gap-down open below the prior session's structural low (pLow) and below the entire CPR is already a bearish setup before the first bar. When the opening bounce runs above TC on Long Unwinding and prints a Poor High, it is not a failure of the bearish setup — it is the setup completing itself. The squeeze above TC was the entry opportunity, not a reason to step aside. The September low breach at 22,550 was not a new trend developing; it was the flush that ended the trade. Letting the runner run through the wLow and Sep Low zone and then exiting on the Short Covering flip, rather than taking profit at the Sep Low, captures the full move without needing to predict the recovery.

CPR width: ~25 pts (narrow → trend day). Open location: 22,780 — above the entire CPR and above H4 (22,796 region), bullish open-location read.
Narrow CPR with open well above it points to a trend day in favour of the upside. The open at 22,780 is above TC (22,710) and approaching pHigh (22,818.6). On paper, this is a bull trend setup. The catch: R1 sits at 22,844.1, and the pre-market map from the prior session had put Thursday's pHigh (22,818.6) and Thursday's Poor High (22,748.4) as the ceiling stack. An open well above those levels, heading straight into R1, is an invitation to be wrong loudly.
The first bars printed 6.75K, 4.2K, 3.88K volume — heavy opening activity. The session pushed to 22,853.3, nine points above R1. OI Sense read Short Buildup from the opening bar — new short supply entering against the rally, not covering. Cumulative delta turned negative by bar two and never recovered through the morning. VWAP, which started the session near 22,820, curved steeply downward from the first bar. The tell was complete before 9:30: new shorts at R1, delta already negative, VWAP rolling over. The 22,853 high printed a Poor High — barely one period of TPOs before price left and never returned.
From the high, the descent was systematic: below pHigh (22,818.6), below TC, below BC, through S3, through the September low (22,584.9) — the second consecutive session to breach it — through S1 at 22,576 and S2 at 22,429, all the way to the weekly low at 22,435.0. The session's heaviest volume bar printed near the extreme: 8.88K contracts, a climactic print at the wLow. From 22,435, Short Covering drove a recovery to the close at 22,589 — the same pattern as Thursday, except Friday's close was 191 points below the open rather than 57.
A b-shape — Poor High from the opening spike at 22,853 (barely one period), value built in the 22,467.6 to 22,657.2 zone (the lower third of the day's range), POC at 22,574.3, and a Poor Low tail at 22,435. The close at 22,589 landed inside the value area, just above the September low. Both the top and the bottom of Friday's range were thin auctions. The profile says the market rejected both extremes and spent the session building value 160–380 points below the open.
Futures OI +0.11% on a down day = textbook Short Buildup. Unlike Thursday's Long Unwinding (existing longs exiting), Friday's signal says new shorts entered through the entire decline. That pool of short positions becomes the fuel for any expiry-week recovery. The September low has now been breached on two consecutive sessions and recovered both times; the close above 22,584.9 keeps the picture ambiguous heading into the expiry week.
Adding short supply at R1 (22,844–22,853) on the opening spike, riding the descent through every level, and covering a portion near the weekly low on the 8.88K climactic bar. The rest was either held overnight or covered during the recovery. The Short Buildup OI signature is the print: this was not panicked long liquidation, it was a deliberate short build at a structural resistance cluster (R1, pHigh, Thursday's Poor High stack) on a day the market opened well above a narrow CPR.
Before 9:15: narrow CPR + open above it argues long trend day. Reasonable. The first 15 minutes: the opening push to 22,853 (above R1) should trigger the question — is there follow-through? One look at the volume (heavy) and the OI Sense (Short Buildup) answers it. Trigger: rollover back below pHigh (22,818.6) with delta flipping negative and Short Buildup confirmed; entry short below 22,800. Risk: stop at 22,860, just above the 22,853 high, 60 points. Management: first lot off at S3 cluster / Thursday's prior S3 reference (22,620, hit), second lot to break-even and trailed through the wLow zone; stopped on the Short Covering recovery near 22,560. Where you'd be wrong: a clean hold above 22,818 (pHigh) with delta recovering — the session never made that recovery during the descent.
A narrow CPR + open above it looks bullish but requires confirmation. When the first push runs into a structural resistance cluster (R1, prior-day pHigh, prior-day Poor High stack) and the OI Sense reads Short Buildup rather than fresh Long Buildup, the open-location read has been invalidated inside the first 15 minutes. The trade flips: the narrow CPR now points to a trend day short, not long. Waiting for the signal (rollover below pHigh, negative delta, Short Buildup confirmed) rather than fading blindly from R1 is the discipline the framework requires. The 8.88K climactic bar near the wLow is the exit cue for the first lot runner — not a target level, a volume event.

CPR width: ~37 pts (narrow → trend day). Open location: 22,560.0 — below TC (22,607.4), bearish open-location read. A narrow CPR with a bearish open argues for a trend day in favour of the downside — unless the framework's lower-priority layers override it, which Oct 26 did immediately.
Narrow CPR on a day before expiry. The open at 22,560 is 47 points below TC — not inside the CPR, not above it. The pre-market map named the wLow at 22,440 as the week's organising level: two tests, one from Oct 23's session extreme and one pending. A bearish open heading straight for a tested structural support is a setup to watch, not to short blindly.
The first two 15-minute bars drove from 22,560 to 22,440, posting cumulative delta of -1.26K and -1.79K — negative delta on falling price, consistent with fresh supply. But the wLow (22,440) was the same level Oct 23 had printed as its session extreme and held on Short Covering. The second test at the same level triggered the same response: Short Covering (OI Sense orange) from 22,440, futures OI declining as price rose — trapped shorts unwinding rather than fresh buyers initiating.
From 22,440, the delta turned and stayed positive: +415, +1.58K, +1.21K, +1.21K, +777, +1.26K in consecutive bars. The session reclaimed TC (22,607.4), PP (22,625.8) and BC (22,644.2) in a single clean move, never pausing to retest below. VWAP, sitting in the 22,640–22,660 area, was crossed and held above for the rest of the session. The midday period posted an 11.56K volume bar — the heaviest of the day — with sustained positive delta: large-lot absorption at a key area, not retail momentum chasing. Camarilla H3 at 22,704 was punched through without a meaningful pullback. The session ended at the wHigh at 22,790.0, with the close at 22,774.8.
A Trend Day up — the most directional day type, where value migrates from the session open to the session close without meaningful overlap with the prior day's value area. Open Rejection Reverse: the session opened below CPR structure, tested the wLow, was rejected, and drove relentlessly higher through the entire day. Value settled in the 22,608.3 to 22,700 area, POC at 22,663.5. [34/26] TPO distribution confirms the upside skew — 34 TPOs above the POC, 26 below. The lower portion of the range (22,440 to 22,600) is largely single prints: the market moved through it so quickly that it never built value there.
Poor High at 22,785.1 — a single-print top, price reaching that level in one period and not revisiting it. The final hour showed the market settling between 22,760 and 22,790, closing at 22,774.8. Not a blow-off high, but not a well-auctioned one either.
Short Covering dominated — futures OI declined as price rose. The Short Buildup Friday had added at the session extreme is the supply now being bought back. The two-session sequence (Friday's Short Buildup at the wLow → Monday's Short Covering explosion from the same level) is the cleanest expiry-week read of October: bears added at the bottom, bulls squeezed them out at the top. With expiry on Tuesday Oct 27, the session closed 74 points above max pain (22,700), above all CPR levels and above Camarilla H3 (22,704).
Covering the shorts added at Friday's wLow (22,435–22,440) on Monday's test of the same level. The 11.56K midday volume bar — the session's largest — is the signature: a deliberate absorption at a key area, holding price above VWAP and preventing any meaningful test of the CPR reclaim. The session's direction was decided in the first two bars and was not contested after 9:30.
Before 9:15: narrow CPR + open below it argues for a trend day short. Reasonable, but the wLow is 120 points below the open and has already held once this week. The first two bars confirm the bearish lean — delta negative, price falls to 22,440. The trigger: at 22,440, the OI Sense flips orange (Short Covering), the next bar's delta turns positive, and the wLow holds for the second time in three sessions. Long entry at 22,465 after the Short Covering confirmation bar. Stop at 22,405, just below the wLow (60 pts of risk): the thesis is invalidated if the wLow breaks cleanly and holds below. First lot: target BC (22,644, hit) — the CPR bottom, the natural first test after a CPR reclaim from below. Second lot: break-even stop, trailed on 15-minute higher lows through the session; the 11.56K midday bar held price in the 22,660–22,720 range for an hour before the next leg; runner trailed into the final hour as the market entered its Poor High box (22,760–22,790) and stopped near 22,770. Where you'd be wrong: a break of 22,440 with continuation below L3 (22,474) — the session never tested that scenario.
The CPR's open-location read is a starting bias, not a trade. A bearish open below a narrow CPR on a day before expiry sets up a trend day short on paper — but when the obvious target is the weekly low at 22,440 (a level that held only three sessions ago on a Short Covering reaction), the order-flow read at that level overrides the open-location bias. The framework hierarchy: CPR says character, pivots say where, order flow says whether. When order flow at a structural support says Short Covering on the second test of the same extreme, the character is now long. The narrow CPR still works — it just works in the opposite direction from the open.

CPR width: ~175 pts (very wide → compression, two-way chop, expiry character). Open location: 22,700.0 — inside the CPR (between BC 22,603.7 and TC 22,778.7), neutral open-location read.
The widest CPR of the month at ~175 points, computed from Monday's 350-point range session. The open at 22,700 is inside the CPR — neutral. On an expiry day, a very wide CPR just confirms what the calendar says: the contract has run its course, open interest will decay through the session, and the market is unlikely to trend. The pre-market map flagged max pain at approximately 22,700–22,750 as the likely settlement magnet.
The session opened at 22,700, quickly pushed to the pHigh/wHigh area at 22,785.1 (Monday's Poor High). From 22,785.1 the push continued to 22,830, tagging TC (22,778.7) and then overshooting it by 52 points to the session high at 22,841.7, right at R1 (22,866.5) and Camarilla H4 (22,863.6). OI Sense: Short Covering in the opening bars — the residual shorts from Monday and the overnight position were covered into the morning push. The delta turned immediately at the high. No absorption, no second push attempt. From 22,841.7, the session drifted. There were no large-volume trend bars in either direction; the footprint was flat, delta hovering near zero, with small rotations in both directions. VWAP settled in the 22,755–22,780 range and price never departed more than 30 points from it after the morning. Short Covering on close — the afternoon saw the final residual shorts from Monday's squeeze being tidied.
A Normal Variation — slight downside day: range slightly below the prior session's 350-point move, but the profile structure is notably narrow for an expiry — only 82.9 points open-to-close range. The session printed a Poor High at 22,785.1 (the wHigh touched in one period and immediately left) and a VAL at 22,698.2 at the lower edge of value. POC at 22,806.7, well above the close at 22,748.3 — the profile's centre of gravity is above where the market settled. [25/29] TPO distribution confirms a slight downside skew through the afternoon. The entire profile is contained inside Monday's range, consistent with expiry compression.
OI behaviour was Short Covering through the session — October contract open interest declining as price rotated near max pain. This is the normal expiry-day pattern: trapped shorts from the high and lows of the week close positions rather than carry them into settlement. The final settlement at 22,749.75 (bhavcopy settle) landed within 50 points of max pain, which is the contract's way of confirming the expiry read.
Settling OI at the least painful price — near max pain at 22,700–22,750 — and closing October contract books. No structural move was needed or attempted. The Monday wHigh (22,785.1) at TC was the ceiling for any morning push, and it held.
Before 9:15: very wide CPR + neutral open location on expiry = compression day, no trend. The trade is a fade of the morning squeeze. The open: price drives to 22,841.7 (H4/R1 cluster) in the first bars on Short Covering. Trigger: delta turns at the high, no second push, rollover below TC (22,778.7); entry short at 22,810. Risk: stop at 22,855, just above the session high, 45 points. First lot: target is BC (22,603.7, first CPR edge from below) — not reached, session low was 22,635. Runner: trailed on 15-minute lower highs; the market never traded below 22,747 in the afternoon so the runner was stopped at break-even near 22,810 or just above entry as the session settled. Where you'd be wrong: a reclaim and acceptance above TC (22,778.7) with positive delta — which briefly happened at the morning high but did not hold.
An expiry day with a very wide CPR is a compression day by definition. The setup is not a trend trade — it is a fade of the morning squeeze to the max pain zone. The framework still reads correctly: the pHigh/wHigh area (22,785.1) was the ceiling, the R1/H4 cluster (22,841.7–22,863.6) was the hard stop, and the POC at 22,806.7 (above the close) confirmed the morning's short-covering excess wasn't a new trend. The lesson is discipline: on expiry day, a small fade near the morning high is the trade, not a 200-point directional bet. +55 pts at 1.2R is what expiry day gives when the framework is used correctly.

CPR width: ~103 pts (wide → non-trending, two-way). Open location: 22,690.0 — below BC (22,692.4) and just below L3 (22,692.9), bearish open location at the CPR's lower edge.
Wide CPR — the November contract's first CPR, computed from the October expiry session's OHLC. The open at 22,690 is marginally below BC (22,692.4) and L3 (22,692.9), placing it in a bearish open location right at the CPR's lower boundary. A wide CPR with a borderline bearish open does not point to a clean trend day; it points to range expansion and two-way rotation, which is exactly what the first day of a new contract tends to produce as the market discovers fresh range.
The opening bars printed Short Buildup — fresh short positions entered into the gap-down open, not covering of prior session shorts. Those new shorts got squeezed. From 22,690, the session accelerated upward in the opening hour: 185 points to the session high of 22,875.5, tagging R1 (22,849.3) and clearing through Camarilla H4 (22,863.4) to a new weekly high. The delta turned immediately at 22,875.5 — large ask absorption bars, no continuation buying, the wHigh printed as a single-bar extreme. From the wHigh, the delta flipped and held net negative through the rest of the session.
The sell-off through the afternoon was methodical: through TC (22,795.7), through PP (22,742.2), through BC (22,692.4), through Camarilla L4 (22,636.1) / S1 (22,642.6), through pLow (22,635.0), and finally through the September structural low at 22,579.0 to the session low at 22,567.0 — a thin-volume wick, no continuation. Short Covering began from 22,567, recovering through L4/S1 and BC back to the close at 22,775.3, right on the session's POC at 22,776.8. Short Buildup held as the dominant OI character into the close, confirming that the new shorts added from the 22,800+ area through the afternoon were still in position at day's end.
An Outside Day / Range Expansion — 308.5 points, nearly four times the expiry session's range. The November contract's first session explored both sides of the range, built value at the centre ([16/41] TPO split at the POC), and printed Poor High at 22,875.5 (one-two period spike at the wHigh, no acceptance above 22,825) and Poor Low at 22,567.0 (thin-volume wick below the September structural low, no TPO acceptance below 22,580). Close at 22,775.3, within a point of the POC at 22,776.8 — the session ended exactly where it found balance.
Short Buildup from the first bar to the last. The opening session of the November contract opened with bears adding fresh shorts — squeezed in the morning, then vindicated through the afternoon distribution. The overnight carry from Tuesday's October expiry brought in a new cohort of shorts from the 22,800+ area who were still holding into Wednesday's close. A gap-down Thursday open or a continued break below 22,633.5 (Wednesday's VAL) would validate them; a gap-up above 22,800 risks another squeeze.
Testing the range of the November contract's first session from both sides — an opening squeeze to print a wHigh, a systematic distribution from the wHigh through every level to the September low, and a recovery to the POC close. The Short Buildup OI character from open to close is the signature: this was not a day institutions decided direction; it was a day they established the bracket (22,567–22,875) that the November contract will be resolved within.
Before 9:15: wide CPR (~103 pts) + barely bearish open (22,690 below BC/L3 by 2–3 points) = don't expect trend from either direction. The November contract Day 1 is typically range expansion. The open: Short Buildup in the first bars drives a squeeze to the wHigh at 22,875.5 — above R1 (22,849.3) and H4 (22,863.4). Trigger: delta turns at 22,875.5, large ask absorption, no second push; entry short at 22,855 after confirmation. Risk: stop at 22,895, above the wHigh, 40 points. First lot: target S1 (22,642.6, hit — low was 22,567). Second lot: break-even stop, trailed on 15-minute lower highs through the afternoon; the market descended through BC (22,692), L4/S1 (22,636–22,643), pLow (22,635), September Low (22,579) to 22,567 — the runner was closed near 22,600 as the Short Covering recovery from 22,567 accelerated. Where you'd be wrong: a reclaim and acceptance above TC (22,795.7) on positive delta — the session never made that recovery during the descent.
The November contract's opening day is not a directional read — it is a range-finding session. A wide CPR + barely bearish open tells you to expect both sides; the Short Buildup squeeze in the opening hour creates the risk event (a new weekly high that attracts fresh short supply), and the R1/H4 cluster (22,849–22,863) is the natural ceiling. When the wHigh at 22,875.5 is printed and delta turns immediately, the setup is the short from the squeeze high — a 40-point risk with S1 as the first target, and the afternoon distribution as the runner's path. The September low breach at 22,567 on thin volume is a Poor Low, not a breakdown: the market tested it once, couldn't sustain it, and recovered to the POC. Taking the first-lot profit at S1 (22,642.6) and trailing the runner with a break-even stop captured the session's full downside without requiring a view on whether the September low would hold.
